Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.

~Romans 12:11

St. Mary Ladies’ Society of St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Church is a service organization of St. Elias and the Southeast Region of the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese. Any and all women in the church are encouraged to join.

We prepare traditional meals served on many feast days, and provide Mercy Meals for the bereaved and the Holy Bread for every service. We manage the traditional fellowship time after Divine Liturgy, ensuring there is coffee and something to eat for the parishioners who have fasted before receiving Communion. We also provide meals for the Diocesan retreats regularly held at our church.

Other labors of love include decorating the bier and church for Pascha (Easter in the Western tradition) and dyeing eggs red in the Orthodox tradition. We also decorate the church for Christmas.

Community work is important to our society. We have partnered with various organizations for activities such as taking at-risk young women on outings and holding an annual Christmas party for medically fragile children.

The Ladies’ Society also raises funds by selling hand-made foods and collections for special projects for the church and for supported charities. We are actively represented on the church’s Focus St. Elias Committee [insert link to Focus page] and help determine which organizations the parish will support.

The Middle Eastern Festival that takes place every autumn is also an event we coordinate and support by cooking delicious, traditional foods to sell as meals.
